Fabrics and Sewing

Like the look of a handsewn scrapbooking page, or fabric, canvas, lace, etc sewn on by machine?

Here is an example of a handsewn layout, complete with how to's and a project list.

"Let Freedom Ring"

examples and how tos for creating a scrapbook page using sewing, tags, and rubber stamping

On this page, we simply cut the striped paper into an L shape and adhered to textured white paper.  We then framed a black and white photo, adhered to page and finished the corners with pewter brads.  We added the tag.
example of using mesh, buttons, stickers, eyelets, and ribbon to create a tag

The tag was made by cutting brick red colored cardstock into the tag shape using a paper trimmer.  We then cut a small square of a patterned paper to go between the eyelet and paper.  We then added the eyelet. Added mesh for interest.  Added a small "de-fined" sticker and some star buttons. Adhered all with glue dots.  We stamped the date in the bottom corner and added a ribbon.

The "Let Freedom Ring" was added using Wordsworth alphabet stamps. Here are some similar alphabet rubber stamps by Technique Tuesday:

Technique Tuesday Clear Stamps - Farmhouse Lowercase Letters - Large
- $ 19.99
Our Farmhouse alphabet stamps evoke feelings of relaxed and carefree summer days, doodling in a hammock, or taking in the view from the wraparound porch. Sketchy, yet classy, these letters will work beautifully on distressed and modern pages, as well as on puddle-jumping, bug-gathering, children-focused layouts. The combination of comfort and style is irresistible.

Ok!, Now to the bottom photo embellishment.  We found this canvas thick ribbon and adhered it around the photo for a frame.  We then added a small X stitch to each corner.  Very easy and finishes off the frame nicely.

You can also use 'no-sew' fabric on your pages.  Making Memories now makes self sticking fabric and leather tags, frames, and pockets.  You can always stitch lace or ribbon on if you feel the need.  Here are some great fabric and leather items designed specifically for your scrapbooking needs.
